SHORT:
Happy 2 year anniversary of the FBI coming to my apartment to all who celebrate.
MEDIUM:
I returned from holiday vacation to find that a chunk of our ceiling fell in. It’s been five days since we contacted management and they have yet to respond. So it looks like, whether we like it or not, 2024’s gunna be about gaping wet holes.1
Relatedly, thank you to everyone who attended the fundraiser for my short film, Lesbian Jesus Is Pregnant With Vibes.2 We successfully raised 22k.
While I’m talkin’ business, I’d also love if you joined the Patreon for Late Stage Live. We’re gunna create paid tiers soon, but right now, it’s free. Treat yourself to some photographs of me looking nuts during the last taping (our director says it’s “because I was stressed about jokes landing”, but it’s actually because cameras are inherently phallic, so every time I’m around one, I go crazy. Also because my Myers-Briggs is B I T C H!!!! 😈).
LONG:
It was a pretty solid year in Reidtown.
According to my camera roll that I just scrolled thru, I finished my last semester of graduate school, got bangs, saw Lord Of The Rings for the first time, crushed my JFL audition, and then bombed my callback.
I stayed in a haunted house in Asheville, hosted a show called Casual Sax, watched Succession weekly with a gaggle of gay people (and one straight person named Anne), went to LA, won the ATX TV Festival Pitch Competition, and saw my gay senior citizen pen pal perform in The Music Man.
I moved in with Jess, was interviewed for a documentary about trans comedy, visited Fire Island, headlined in Cincinnati, got a cat, launched a queer late-night public access comedy news show, Jess got mugged multiple times, I applied for 900 jobs. And then, in the 11th hour, I got one.
I don’t really have any resolutions for 2024, other than… to just… sort of… keep going.
Let me know if you have any resolutions. For me… or urself.

Thank you for subscribing. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s not – it’s a lot like when people slip on ice. If this is your first time reading, please god check out the archives, they’re better than this iteration, probably.
Sincerely,
Reid Pope
Bonus Jonas Zone:
too tired to go through rest of camera roll, but i promise u, there’s good stuff
Will you be the rain the caused it? The management ignoring it? Or the tenants trying to embrace it?
Some people’s lives lead them from jobs in software to jobs in medicine. Mine led me from being the only lesbian at a gayguy event to being the only gayguy at the lesbian event.
Wish I read more fiction
not jess got mugged multiple times, poor jess!!!
