SHORT:
At long last, I got a job.
I got a job, at long last.
MEDIUM:
I am thankful for the aforementioned job, but it means my days of wandering the streets of Brooklyn at 2pm while moaning about how my life sucks are over. And I was getting particularly good at it.
Moaning inside at a desk shielded from the wind doesn’t have the same mouth-feel...
You may be thinking, “Reid, that’s not the right use of the word mouth-feel… the word mouth-feel ‘refers to the sensations that are experienced inside the mouth while eating or drinking1.’ Moaning is not a food nor a drink; in fact, it’s a sound that comes out of u, not in.”
To which I say, “not the way I do it.”
LONG:
Having a job also means returning (from a long, sensual hiatus) to interface with my (sexless) sworn enemy: Google Calendar.
Die-hard Reid fans know that my preferred scheduling method is: one long Word Doc full of everything I need to do thru the end of the year, inexplicably highlighted, bolded, and capitalized per “however I was feeling” when I inputted the information.
It is rightfully and obviously titled “CAL” (and sends shivers down the spines of everyone who went to college with me2).
The best part about CAL is I don’t have to click times and dates or add email addresses to it. I just type “APPLICATION FOR [x] DUE ON [x]!!!!” or “DOCTORS APPOINTMENT!” and check it every five minutes as if something could’ve changed/ try to remember why I made “JAN 8TH 10PM!” bright green and what I’m sort of… supposed to be doing at that time...
On Saturday, to bring myself back to earth, I decided to watch Annie (1999). Jess had never seen it!!!!, and I needed to get my yearly fix of Kristen Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, and Kathy Bates doing a synchronized scoot-scoot-body roll. It’s not as acrobatic as the original Easy Street in which Tim Curry pommel horses a banister, and in these bumpy times? I need smooth.
As teased in the opening photo, we also went to LIGHTSCAPE this weekend — a Disneyland-esque exhibit at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens that was pretty, but there were a lot of strollers, and I was really cold. Snack Of The Week was the apple cider I had during the walk.
That’s really it for this week.

Thank you for subscribing. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s not – it’s a lot like when people slip on ice. If this is your first time reading, please god check out the archives, they’re better than this iteration, probably.
Sincerely,
Reid Pope
Bonus Jonas Zone:
"It makes no sense, but neither does life, bitch!!!” — me to my a cappella co-leaders who hated watching me scroll thru “CAL” to see if I was free to host a mixer with the MIT Logarhythms when they came to campus.
ok in the past (ie before yesterday) i would’ve been really torn between apple cider and hot chocolate, BUT last night i added an andes mint to my hot choc and it CHANGED THE GAME!! 10 stars
