Dispatches From The Slocket: REID #189
and some devastating news... regarding an expected arrival...
SHORT:
Jess is on the toilet right now
reading Larry David’s Wikipedia page
“gunna be here a while, might as well learn something”
MEDIUM:
Happy Belated Mother’s Day — as a gift to ME, my mother pressed an emergency button in Madrid that she “thought was a button that would tell her more about the church she was in”.
Instead of facts about stained glass, “EMERGENCIA!” blared over a loud speaker and she sprinted away, panicked.
I wasn’t there, but I can picture the scene in perfect detail.
God delivers!
LONG:
How’s everyone doing in this slow pocket between spring and summer? The Slocket, as I like to call it1.
I’ve been rehearsing and rewriting play pages for an upcoming reading that are making me feel like I’m the dumbest person alive (derogatory). I want them to make me feel like I’m the dumbest person alive (complimentary). If anyone knows the secret to getting from one to the other, please let me know.
In other news, we’re a month out from my sister’s move to NYC. Some of you may remember that I was particularly excited for this move, as it meant I would get to meet her !!treadmill desk!! when it touched down at JFK.
Unfortunately, this week, I received the news that her treadmill desk will not be making the trans-national trek.
It’s been a tough pill to swallow, as I’d already made so many signs to hold up in the back of her work meetings (as if she was running the NY Marathon).
Most just say vague things like “Keep Going!” and “You Got This!” (because I have no idea what she actually does for her job), so I can probably re-purpose them.
This week’s Snack Of The Week is the plate of gummies I got while watching I Saw The TV Glow. I couldn’t finish them, so ya I got a to-go box. Still haven’t finished them. If anyone wants any, comment below.

Thank you for subscribing to this newsletter. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s not – it’s a lot like when people slip on ice. If this is your first time reading, pls check out the archives.
