SHORT:
Spent the week feeling annoliated — the perfect blend of “annoyed” and “humiliated”1.
MEDIUM:
In the grand tradition of timing that could not be worse, I have somehow developed strep throat one week before the New York Marathon… [how about, instead of drones that deliver enchiladas, we invent a throat that doesn’t “strep”?]
According to Reddit (dyslexic but honest WebMD) —this “happens”. During taper period, your immune system goes rogue and you sometimes get “taper flu”2
But never fear! Reddit user penguin967 assures me it “will miraculously clear up by race day.” I am choosing to trust this even though penguins famously do not run.
LONG:
What else is happening… The Dodgers and Yankees are in the World Series — rough combo for someone raised in Northern California with a Red Sox fan dad.
I was really hoping the Mets would win it all…
Not because I care about baseball, but because my gay friend Ryan works in their HR department and would’ve received a ring if they won and that would’ve been rly cool for him to flaunt at Barry’s Bootcamp Chelsea (and sometimes Upper West Side depending on if the instructor he likes is working that day or not).
My brother came to town and we went to a place called Syko and split the “Chicken Fatboy” — a delicious mix of chicken and rice and vegetables wrapped, burrito-style, in a giant scallion pancake (Snack Of The Week).
We shot another Late Stage Live (Ep 12, god bless us all). It’s dropping tonight, I think. The morning of, I had to go get a hard drive from an electronics store located next to where P. Diddy is currently in jail. Unrelatedly, the store had incredible vibes.
The second I walked in (with full strep throat may I remind you), I was greeted by the warmest employees on earth. They escorted me to the desk to pick up the hard-drive, but not before showing me their “wall of computer pioneers” — a massive exhibit with black and white portraits of The Greats: Steve Jobs, Wozniak, et al.
Arriving at Late Stage, I was already in good spirits, buoyed by the unexpected energy of Micro Center. But the day got even better when I glanced up at one of the silent Brooklyn Public Access Channel screens in the studio and discovered… Mr. Phil.
Yes, you read that right—not Dr. Phil, but Mr. Phil. Host of The Mr. Phil Show.
Now, there was no sound, but he and his wife (I think?) were sitting on a couch, possibly discussing music, judging by the records on the wall behind them. What truly delighted me was imagining him thinking, “Dr. Phil? Please. Make way for Mr. Phil! I may not have a PhD, but I’ve got an M-R—and not everyone can say that!”
Meanwhile, Dr. Phil recently endorsed Donald Trump at a Madison Square Garden rally, calling him “tough as an old army boot.” I can only pray that Mr. Phil has higher standards.
Okay I just googled for more info. Mr. Phil’s show is indeed music related. What more? He’s back on air after a devastating COVID closure of his studio, where he’d been hosting the show for 26 years! A true king of public access, keeping the title of Mr. alive and well.
Leave a comment with the title of your dream public access show (hosted by you).

Yes, I am always in some state of annoliation but this week was WORSE
— running should be illegal (but then we’d probably have a prohibition thing where people would want to do it even more…)
WHEN I WILL HAVE COMPLETED (Chas v'shalom) THE DAMN MARATHON
