WATER FINDS ITS WAY! JUST LIKE FRODO (OR WHATEVER): REID #177
landlords, jesus, and my annual alien experience on (middle) earth
SHORT:
Wish I could go up to random people at cafes and lift them up in their chairs, Bar-Mitzvah-style…
MEDIUM:
The large leaky hole in our ceiling is back.
We texted our landlord about it, and she replied: “Water finds its way”.
Fabulous!
Sometimes I stand naked in my window with my arms out and hope the people at the church next door think I’m Jesus. Either way, the sight should/will have someone yellin’ JESUS CHRIST (am I rite, ladies!?)
That’s basically what’s going on with me this week.
LONG:
As some of you may recall, my partner Jess is obsessed with Lord Of The Rings and forces me to attend a live-scored showing of one of the movies each year.
I have never seen the series, so I watch each film, 1 year at a time, for the first time, alongside a group of 6,000 rabid fans who know every word.
Last year was The Fellowship Of The Ring (just had to google the name), and this year was The Two Towers (just had to ask Jess even tho we literally saw it on Friday).
While in line for the event, I asked people questions — namely: “when was the last time any of you had sex!?” (kidding).
At one point during the screening, a character onscreen kicked a helmet and everybody jumped out of their seats — hooting and hollering inexplicably.
I later learned that it was because they actor broke his toe (in real life) while filming the scene.
I thought about how one time I split my pants open in the elevator at my summer internship and it was caught on cctv (basically same thing — and no applause for moi! if society valued copywriters the way it values movie stars, it would’ve gotten the same response!)
What else…
I did some good stand-up this week. I’m trying to channel the confidence of my enemies while onstage. Is that healthy? It seems to be working… Comment down below with your thoughts.
Snack Of The Week was the Sour Patch Kids I ate during the screening.
Oh, and we have a Late Stage Live live taping coming up this Friday. If you’re interested in attending, let me know.
C U Next Tuesday
Thank you for subscribing to this newsletter. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s not – it’s a lot like when people slip on ice. If this is your first time reading, pls check out the archives.
